Broker Check

Commission Based Fee

For our non-fee based accounts, we offer a variety of investment vehicles such as mutual funds, annuities and alternative investments in which a commission is paid.  A commission is a service charge assessed for the purchase or sale of a security and referred to as front-end sales load.  Commissions vary widely from brokerage to brokerage.  Discounted commissions are offered and are referred to as breakpoints.  Most companies offer breakpoints for larger investment amounts.  The larger the investment levels, the lower the sales load.  Each company will have its own formula for how it will calculate whether an investor is entitled to receive a breakpoint discount.  Investors should always check with their broker to make sure they get any breakpoint discounts.
